Advertising on Facebook can be confusing. Facebook has numerous ad types, plus they show on Instagram, too. We break down the types of Facebook ads that you can create for your business or non-profit organization.
Image Ads
Image ads are the simplest ad type on Facebook but can be very effective. The simplest way to create an image ad is to boost a Facebook post on your page using the boost button. Image ads are only able to show one image. You can also include text with this type of Facebook ad.
Video Ads
Just like the name says, video ads are like an image ad, but with a video. Video ads can appear in the Facebook Feed or Stories. They can also appear in-stream during a longer Facebook video. Using the highest resolution possible is recommended. Use either vertical or horizontal videos. You can also upload a 360-degree ad where the Facebook user can turn their device or drag their finger around to view various angles.
Slideshow Ads
Don’t have video editing skills? Try a slideshow ad. Technically, Facebook categorizes these ads as video ads. You can use images, text, and video clips to create a short video. You can even add music to these ads. Facebook ads have video editing tools and stock images that you can use to create an exciting video without a large budget.
Carousel Ads
To show multiple images or videos, consider a carousel ad. You can add up to 10 photos or videos in this type of ad. Each carousel card allows you to add a headline, description, and image. Add a Call-to-Action button to drive leads or sales.
Collection Ads
Collection ads only show on mobile devices. With these ads, you can show up to 5 images or videos that customers can click to buy your product without leaving Facebook in an Instant Experience format.
Poll Ads
Consider poll ads to increase engagement with your Facebook Ads. Poll ads allow you to ask people a question with two possible answers.
Catalog Ads
Facebook catalog ads are perfect for e-commerce websites. This ad type looks like a carousel ad. However, Facebook creates the carousel for you based on your product catalog. The product catalog will need to be uploaded to Facebook’s Commerce Manager before you set up the ad. Advertise your whole product catalog or a set of related products.
