Over the last couple years as social media and digital marketing has improved so has alternative communication sites and apps. One that is extremely popular and well known nowadays is LinkedIn. LinkedIn allows us to connect with future employers and current or old colleagues. As well as giving us an outlet to reach out to any professional around the world. LinkedIn is a great resource but many of us starting out have not developed a proper or professional profile on this site due to the lack of knowledge or resources we have in regards to it.
According to James Potter on The History of LinkedIn, the site was developed in 2002 but launched in 2003. Till this day it is one of the oldest forms of social networking. It was developed so professionals could network with everyone around the world. Till this day the site is still growing with over 315 million users daily. According to LinkedIn, the site is now one of the world’s largest professional networking sites on the internet.
Why is LinkedIn Important?
LinkedIn is important in our marketing world because it allows us to market ourselves within the workforce. It allows us to develop ourselves into a brand and show everything we have done to future employers or colleagues. It allows us to show our resumes in the form of a profile page all while they are able to see our pictures and milestones.
