Along with a college degree, we can also look at other sources that can help educate college students wanting to achieve the next level of becoming a great social media marketer. A big kingpin in the teachings of social media marketing is HubSpot. They provide next-level marketing classes which are targeted towards students who are wanting to know what to market to today's generation on social media. Their classes concentrate on giving new marketers the foundation for a good social media marketing strategy. To go along with HubSpot's great classes they also provide links to free classes on other sites with a variety of categories.

When it comes to going to school and getting your degree, Rand Fishkin from Moz Marketing has a great blog post about what marketing firms will consider when you have a degree from a university. A big thing that marketing firms will consider about one who has their diploma is their dedication to work hard. Having that piece of paper while applying for marketing jobs will give the supervisor a preconceived notion that the person has worked hard through school, therefore, will have a great work ethic in their field of work. Although that sometimes is not always the case it is a boost to the interviewee during their interview process and the likelihood of getting hired.

We have talked about the degrees a lot in this article. However, the big question is what degree to study to have the most effective way to market yourself to future employers and wanting them to want you to market for them. There is a lot of speculation that most marketers can be very successful without a degree, however, to market yourself it is always best to have the best credentials to go into an interview with. According to the Digital Marketing Institute, there is high demand for Social Media Marketing Manager positions requiring degrees in marketing or public relations. Having a degree like this one to have on your resume can boost your job opportunities to land a job right out of college. It is a great tool to have to market yourself and is definitely worth the work put into school. Employers will see the hard work you have put into school and you can show them the hard work put into school will also be put into your work.
