Twitter is a powerful social media platform that has revolutionized the way individuals and businesses interact with one another. With over 186 million active users each day, Twitter has become a hub for cultivating engagement and building brand awareness. Thanks to its easy-to-use interface and concise messaging system, Twitter offers users the ability to connect with anyone, anywhere, at any time. By utilizing features such as polls, hashtags, and optimal post times, businesses can create a more personalized experience for their audience, driving up engagement and ultimately driving up their bottom line. In this guide, we will explore the best practices for harnessing the power of Twitter and maximizing its potential.

What is Twitter?

Twitter is a forum based social media platform that is user friendly. According to Hubspot's Kristen Baker, Twitter is a massive platform that receives 186 million users daily and its success can be attributed to the fact that it is made to be accessed anywhere on your cellular device with concise posts that do not exceed 280 characters allowing the audience to remain engaged.

How is Twitter Used?

Like any social media platform, Twitter’s main purpose is to connect people with one another. This gives brands the opportunity to gain new customers as well as give existing customers a more personal look into what goes on with their favorite companies. This platform is known for the conversations across posts and the large comment-threads that can come from a singular post and reach many different accounts based on how many people interact. According to a blog post on Hootsuite by Claire Beveridge, a great way to get like minded people on Twitter to be interested in your company is the poll feature which allows followers to vote on the answer to a specific question. This helps the company find who is interested in what's happening based on who answers and based on the poll results. One other way to ensure you are reaching out to a target audience that will enjoy your brand is to use hashtags. Hashtags are buzz words that would be associated with similar posts as yours and what you are marketing. By creating a specific hashtag for your business, you can ensure you are reaching a good chunk of people to interact with your posts. This will make your thread grow and more people who interact with similar things will see your tweets on their feed.

Twitter Marketing

Using Twitter will increase your brand awareness as there are already millions of accounts that are active every single day on the platform. The engagement alone will drive up awareness from things such as retweets, comments, and people clicking links that would be tweeted out causing many more eyes to be on your company that people would otherwise pass up if they had not seen it on Twitter. Sharing existing products on Twitter is a great way for existing customers to leave great reviews in the comments or retweets creating a trustworthy public image. Another way to use the platform to the best of your ability is to generate excitement for new innovations and new products that you may be debuting, leading to existing customers staying interested and spreading buzz among new customers.

Twitter Tips and Tricks

While Twitter makes it easy to connect with your followers, there are other ways to improve your current connection with followers and gain more. According to a blog post on Hubspot by Kristen Baker, it is important to let your followers see the business profile with an easy to read handle. One other tip is that it is important to follow along with the ever changing and evolving trends in social media in order to stay relevant with your followers; this technique can also help in the effort to gain more followers. The final important tip is to post during optimal “post times.” In other words, times when most people are active and scrolling through their feed. These calculated posts can help you get in front of many people and increase your reach efficiency.
