Transitioning into a Social Media Career with Leane Knight

As graduation approaches for many of us I know I am not the only one stressing about what life might be post graduation. In this podcast Leane Knight talks about her transition into marketing and what job searching looked like. She also touches base on a very important topic which many of us have brought up as something we would like required for our major, graphic design. Her major reason for getting into marketing was that while job searching many jobs were requiring a marketing degree. Even graphic design jobs which she has an associates degree in.

How did Leane start her career?

Marketing was not something Knight wanted to major in so she started focusing on it by herself and has developed a successful career in social media marketing. She mainly focuses on graphics for social media but also helps as a social media manager. One of the most important tips that Leanne brought up was that the first couple things you do on the job will not be good enough for you but that does not mean you should stop. It means you only get better and you learn from your mistakes.

How does Graphic Design help us out as marketers?

During my time as a marketing major I have noticed the topic of graphic design being brought up over and over and sometimes even

in my classes from marketing professors. Leane made valid points and so did Andrea on their podcast in regards to either having to hire a graphic designer as a social media manager or even having to learn how to make your own graphics for others.

In conclusion and overall Leane talked about doing what she loved and how that helped her kick start her career. You can’t become a successful individual without being passionate about what you are doing and why you are doing it. She know offers help to others in stating their own careers and more information can be located on her social media accounts listed below:
