TikTok is one of the most popular and well-known forms of social media on the market today. Being a part of Gen Alpha or Gen Z, it is almost unheard of to not have TikTok downloaded on your phone. Staying ahead of the game means jumping on the TikTok bandwagon, and if you want to remain relevant in this day and age, knowing how to use and promote your brand with TikTok is crucial. In this article, you will learn some tips and tricks for staying in the know with the younger generations.
Each generation has its own idea of how a brand should run its company and participate in real-world problems. Social justice and climate change, for example, are huge red-button issues for many members of Gen Z and even Gen Alpha and it can be the deciding factor in whether or not they will shop your brand. People love transparency; be as up-front as possible about what your goals are and be honest about what goes into making your products and services. Researching a company/brand before buying is an important step in the decision-making process for many people, so making sure that information is easily accessible is crucial. People will not buy if they don't know what they are getting so this is a great way to build that trust with your audience.
Leaving your comfort zone and getting yourself familiar with different platforms and types of content creation is the most important first step to take. You need to know how to use your networks in order to reach your target audience and even expand your customer base. TikTok has ever-changing trends and challenges that can really help grow your brand if you participate in them. They work similarly to hashtags meaning they will get your content seen by more people. Having a good mix of original content and following trends is the best way to keep your follower count up and not push people away. Original content is unique to you and something that won't have to compete for attention like participating in a trending challenge would. Working with other brands and influencers is another way to reach more people. However, pushing too much-sponsored content onto watchers is a turnoff and can cause them to unfollow, so it's important to keep that balance.
Make sure to establish your posting frequency. Don't post too frequently, but make sure you are posting often enough. Most people have said that 1-2 posts a day are a good amount without being overwhelming. Consumers love consistency, so that being said, try to keep your posting amount the same each week. You want to continue producing good quality content The short-form video format of TikTok is more engaging than longer videos, so keeping your content short but informative without being boring is so important. Because of its popularity, TikTok helps you to get and retain your audience's attention. Another great thing about using TikTok and the short-form video becoming so popular is the fact that you can take the content you created on TikTok and repost it to pretty much every other social media platform. This will help it reach the people who may not use TikTok.
The features TikTok has to offer are never-ending. One great idea they have implemented is being able to respond to comments on your videos with another video. This gives you a chance to create more content to be seen and also the opportunity to build a relationship with new (and already subscribed) customers.
One final idea to keep your content good and entertaining is to script it. This may seem like too much, especially for 15-second clips, but this helps to make sure you get all of your important talking points and makes your content and delivery feel more focused.
As the title suggests, short-form is taking over and that is your best bet for reaching the largest amount of people in a shorter time. Using the tips mentioned above and learning to adapt to what the newer generations want is the best way to get yourself seen and promote what you have to offer.
