DGMG Jobs
LinkedIn
Your Personal Portfolio
Platform 1: DGMG Jobs
Are you in the market (no pun intended) for a remote or in-person marketing job? DGMG Jobs might be the place for you. This platform ranks on Ahrefs’ list of 10 Best Job Boards for Marketers. It holds this position primarily because of the variety of job offerings that are designated specifically for marketers.
When you visit the job board for the first time, you’ll have access to dozens of job listings for both full-time and remote positions. You’ll be able to explore positions for product marketers, customer relationship management, and more.
This job board is much more than just a website. In fact, Ahrefs recommends checking out the site’s Facebook community, online university, and podcast series in order to gain the full benefit of DGMG Jobs.
If you’re ready to get started in your search with this platform, check it out here. However, you can explore more opportunities through nine other sites on Ahrefs' list of 10 Best Job Boards for Marketers.
Platform 2: LinkedIn
While some of the job platforms listed in the full Ahrefs article may be novel to many marketing job hunters, LinkedIn is a well-known, tried-and-true platform for connecting with professionals in all industries. However, an article by Forbes offers several tips that can help bolster your profile so that marketing position recruiters can find you as their ideal candidate.
Many of these tips are general best practices for building a LinkedIn profile. For example, you should always be sure to utilize a professional profile photo and to complete all sections of your profile, including your headline, summary, experience, and certifications sections. This is important because complete profiles are more likely to appear in the executive search (Clark, 2022). When you appear in searches, thanks to the LinkedIn algorithm, your complete profile will also seem more impressive to potential employers.
However, if you're a college student with limited career experience, you may neglect to fill out a key section of your profile that can render your LinkedIn presence invisible to recruiters looking for the perfect candidate. If you are not currently employed, you may be tempted to leave the “Current Job Section” blank. However, Clark (2022) recommends that you fill in the area with the title of the role you are seeking. In the spot reserved for the name of the company, be sure to make it clear that you are unemployed. However, this small step will help to make your profile more visible in the search results for job recruiters.
Completing this section of your profile can also help LinkedIn to provide more helpful search results in the “Jobs” portion of the site. Once you’ve followed the steps listed in this Forbes article, take a look at LinkedIn’s job results to find your perfect position.
Platform 3: Build Your Own Platform… Your Personal Portfolio!
The LinkedIn social networking site provides a great tool to connect with employers and the job positions they are looking to fill. However, when the time comes to get more serious with your marketing job search, you need to be prepared with a platform of your own.
While your website personal portfolio is not a job search platform itself, it provides another point of contact for connection with potential employers. According to an article on LinkedIn, your online portfolio is the key to showing employers how you do the great work described in your resume. The portfolio also serves the purpose of inspiring employers and helping to establish your industry authority.
Ultimately, your portfolio should be one of the most essential job search platforms. The only difference is that instead of traveling to other sites to find jobs, you compile your work with the goal of attracting recruiters to your site. This is the best chance you have to sell yourself so be sure to include these key aspects in your personal portfolio website (Singh, 2021):
Professional bio
Resume
Contact Information
Examples and descriptions of your work
Awards
Testimonials
As you create these elements, you’ll want to follow the steps listed by Singh (2021) in his LinkedIn article. Check out the full article here.
Now that you’ve got more resources at your fingertips than a simple Google search, it’s time to hit the marketing job hunt trail. There are more positions available than you’ve likely ever dreamed. Thanks to the best resources that help to make the process simple, you can feel ready for some happy job hunting!
