The marketing world is growing every day and businesses are using it more than ever now. The demand for marketing jobs is higher than ever due to the economy switching to an online world. Businesses are learning about the online business world and having to use marketing if they want to succeed. Since it is in such high demand, many jobs pay well as marketing is an essential part of every business. Marketing is what puts a business out in the world, on billboards, and all over the internet. One of the jobs that are in high demand is a social media manager. A social media manager is the one who oversees organizing a team that is focused on increasing brand awareness using social media outlets. Your main goal is to grow the business and make sure the business continues gaining new customers weekly. You must stay on top of social media trends and any other important things happening in the world.
A social media manager is responsible for all the social media outlets and the marketing of the business. As a social media manager, the responsibilities you have also depend on the size of the business you are working with. If you are working for a multi-million-dollar business, I am sure you will have a lot on your plate. The more responsibilities, the more money you get which is not a bad thing. As a social media manager, you should focus on these five things: Increasing followers, strategizing content, analyzing data, reporting metrics, and lastly, posting on and monitoring the social media platforms.
1. Increasing Followers
The first responsibility is increasing followers. This is important because the more followers you have the more people that follow you and your business. It is not easy to earn followers in this era. When someone follows you, it is because they like who you are or because they like your content. This is important because you need to remember those two things when you are posting content and ask yourself if the content you put out will bring you, followers.
2. Strategizing Content
The next responsibility is strategizing your content. This is important because when you organize your content you make your life way easier. Since you will be responsible for the ideas and the social campaigns, it is important you strategize so you do not miss any important dates or projects. Having all your content organized will also improve your consistency, the number of times you post, and the frequency. When someone follows you, they want you to post often and give them content to entertain themselves with. That is why many fast-food businesses are active on social media such as TikTok and Twitter and replying to many posts and commenting on videos. It is a smart strategy because you are marketing yourself with the content of other people. For example, if Wendy’s comments on a post with over a million views they are putting out their profile for free on a large platform.
3. Analyzing Data
Analyzing data is where you look at the numbers from your posts and find out which ones are performing better and why. This is where you find out what works and what does not work, it tells you if the people liked what you posted or not. You will spend most of your time writing conclusions based on your strategy. Analyzing data can also be looking at the comments of your posts and reading what the customers are saying whether it is good or bad it is important to look at the comments and maybe even reply to some thanking them for the feedback or any other reasons.
4. Reporting Metrics
Reporting Metrics is when you let the company know how you’re doing, giving them reports and reporting your achievements. If you rapidly grow the Instagram account, you should let them know and you can also receive ideas from other people around the business. The business would want to hear how you grow followers and increase engagement, and also share your creative content ideas and future ideas. Lastly, report any problems that have recently come up. A summary report on how the business is going and the progress you have made from the beginning.
5. Posting Content and Monitoring Social Media Platforms
A social media manager is also responsible for posting content and monitoring social media platforms. Since there are many different platforms, the responsibility is big so being organized is important. It is not just about posting but also monitoring as well. A couple of hours after posting something you should go back into it and see how well it is doing especially if you are running an ad. When you are monitoring your posts or ads you must go in and see what is being talked about whether it is negative or positive getting to the situation before it becomes mainstream. Speed is important because people like it when they are treated well, such as if they comment on a post and you reply within the next hour. They will feel like you care about them and that is important for a business.
