Have you ever wondered if there was a way to make money from your phone? Well, in this day and age it doesn't have to be from a Multi-Level Marketing plan (not that there is anything wrong with it). There are tons of careers available to make a living through social media.
In a few posts I’ve read, I have learned that the careers available for you to make a living through social media have been on the rise lately, and it looks like they will continue to. Let’s dive in.
How To Gain Experience Before Graduation
First and foremost, we know that, as college students, finding time to do anything other than schoolwork can be challenging. We also know that when we graduate, employers want us to have experience in the industry before we can take a position as a social media marketer. Hootsuite mentions that we have the ability to get experience in just a fraction of the time, without finishing our degree first. There are plenty of social media certifications available online that are legitimate and will definitely boost your resume. I recommend checking out the links that they have available to these different courses and finding one that fits into your busy schedule. I will link it down below!
While you are managing your academics, job, sports, or whatever else you do, it can be scary wondering if you will have a job after graduation. I know that this is something I think about often.
It’s easy to do, though. I’m almost positive that you have heard or been told that “a degree is a waste of money and just a piece of paper.” It is harder now than it has ever been to compete in the job world. It’s not getting any easier, and it definitely isn’t getting any cheaper.
But don’t let these thoughts consume you. The jobs are there, and there are plenty of tools available to make your life easier.
AI Can Help You Stand Out Once You Secure the Job
When entering the workforce, we have a little bit of an advantage. Collectively, the generation of college graduates we have today are more familiar with artificial intelligence, and you are more than likely familiar with it, at least on a baseline.
AI will be your friend when it comes to creating the content needed to keep your calendar full and your boss happy. This doesn’t mean that it should do all of your writing, though. However, it can definitely help set you apart from others if you know how to use it properly.
After all, being able to use mathway isn’t going to help you make awesome content to share on your company’s social media pages.
This is a great article that shows how the use of AI can set you apart. To sum up what the authors wrote, AI is mostly free and not well governed. Meaning there are little to no guidelines about how much content you can create with it. I would suggest using it to help brainstorm, write something catchy, or at the very least, give you a good place to start on your posts.
Personally, I like to use it to come up with new and fresh captions that you won’t see a million times on your Instagram or Facebook feeds. I have learned through my work with small businesses that if you post the same caption over and over again, your account is likely to be flagged as a bot. No one wants to deal with that headache.
But what happens when you land a job, work it for a few years, and then decide it’s time to take the next step in your career advancement?
What To Do When You Are Ready to Move Up
SocialMediaToday has a post about what is new and improved in career advancements. I’m sure that if you are interested in being a Social Media Marketer for a living, then you are familiar with LinkedIn. At least to some extent. If you aren’t, I would suggest getting acquainted. They have launched new tools to help you out with your career progression. LinkedIn is now offering a program to help you find a job within your established workplace but in the next position up. We all want to advance, and they have done some of the heavy lifting to show you what is available within your organization to make the step up in your corporate job.
You don’t have to feel stuck in this industry, and LinkedIn is a great place to start looking for your next job. That is, if you choose to stay with your current employer. I would bet that before long, they will be able to hone this skill outside of your current company too.
Rest assured that all of the time and effort you have put into this will pay off.
Now that we have gone over the basics of what the future of your desired career can look like, I hope you can take a deep breath. Even in the short time that I have had a social media account, I have been able to witness the growth and success that people can have in this world. We know that social media is always growing and evolving. So is the job market associated with it. For us college kids, there are plenty of ways to build a resume, make content creation easier, and find a job when we decide it’s time to take the next step.
Regardless of the direction you choose, the internet will not go away any time soon. Now is the time to take advantage of the new opportunities. Whether you graduate tomorrow or in five years, the industry will be needing your talent and expertise. A fresh face is always welcome. With a little hard work, determination, and AI… if you so choose. You are set to take the social media marketing world by storm. And I can’t wait to see it happen.
