What Should You Include in Your Instagram Bio?
What you write in Bio is also very important, users may decide to follow or not follow your Instagram account after reading your Bio, so we need to pay extra attention to the text content in Bio, here are a few suggestions from Sprout Social:
1. Name and Username
Your Instagram username is your @handle and your Instagram identity. It is part of your Instagram profile URL (instagram.com/myusername), prominently displayed at the top of your profile page.
Your name, on the other hand, is your real or full brand name. Depending on data sources such as audience and keyword research, you may know common abbreviations or name variants of brand names. You may consider using them in a place on your Instagram profile, such as in your username.
2. Profile photo and branding
This should be relevant to the visual identity of your brand. Best practices suggest that in order to increase brand recognition, you should use high-resolution logo images and keep all of your social media profiles about your brand. However, individual entrepreneurs and public figures often use headshots, which is a perfectly acceptable option.
For brands with a broad visual identity like National Geographic TV, the iconic yellow rectangular logo is a great headshot.
Another way to shape your Instagram profile is through your Instagram highlights cover. While not necessarily part of your profile, these photos will still appear at the top of your profile, giving you the opportunity to add more color to your Instagram.
3. Instagram profile
This is the section below your name where you can express yourself (or in this case, your brand personality). You have 150 characters to tell people what your Instagram profile is about, what your brand offers, and why they should follow you. So you don't have a lot of work to do, which makes it even more important to plan ahead and refine your Instagram business resume.
4. Bio Link
This is the only section that allows you to add clickable links to your website on Instagram, so make sure you use this space wisely. While you can add a URL to your homepage, you can also update this link more frequently by posting new products, new content, new items, etc. Many brands use the link-in-bio tool to limit individual links to the maximum by taking users to a landing page with shortcuts to featured content and product pages.
5. Categories
Instagram also allows you to specify which category your brand falls into - whether you run a restaurant or a media and entertainment company. If you choose to enable it, it will show up under your business name, which will help you make room for other important details in your Instagram profile.
6. Call to Action and contact buttons
If you take full advantage of the Call to Action button on your Instagram business account, you can further free up space on your Instagram resume. This allows people to take action directly from your Instagram profile on the mobile app, making it easier for customers to switch actions - from buying tickets to booking tables.
Since you have to stay within the 150-character limit, you should have a clear one when writing your essay.
7. Have a sense of direction when writing your Instagram profile.
Knowing exactly what you want from your resume will help you narrow down what to say.
For example, you can simply use it to convey your brand personality and announce your presence on Instagram. You can also use it to advertise your latest products and offers, or to tell people what your business is. If you do advertise sales and recent products, make sure your team is prepared to refresh your Instagram resume regularly and make sure this information is up to date.
Some businesses also use this section to express their brand mission and what they stand for. Take a look at the following example of an Instagram business profile from Grove Collaborative. The company profile tells us something about what the business sells and what its overall mission is.
8. Let your brand personality shine through
Take advantage of your Instagram business profile to express your brand personality. This includes the language and tone you use, or what you say, in general. Reese's, for example, uses a fun and friendly tone in its profile, while taking the opportunity to establish its brand authority.
Some businesses can also add relevant emoticons if that approach suits the brand's personality. Be warned, however, that special characters and emoticons may not translate well on screen readers. Be sure to maintain accessibility best practices for all of your followers and avoid filling your entire resume with characters that are difficult for clients using screen readers to read or understand.
9. Include relevant tags and links to your profile
Instagram allows you to add clickable tags and profile links to your resume. So take advantage of this by directing customers to your other Instagram handles or relevant, tagged content. The option to add profile links is great for businesses that manage multiple accounts.
As for hashtags, adding them to your resume allows your audience to see amazing hashtag user-generated content directly. You can use a brand tag to collect user-generated content, such as Cupshe. The swimwear brand includes several tags they track to display content on their own accounts.
