What if I told you that your business could reach a guaranteed targeted audience? That you can get more leads, and page landings? Or maybe even get detailed information about your audience and their relationship with your business?
That is exactly what the Meta Business Suite/ Facebook Ads Manager will do for you.
Organic social media only goes so far; it reaches less people and overall gets tasking if you don't have a combination of both paid ad-campaigns and organic social media. With the help of HubSpot, Neil Patel, and the Content Marketing Institute, I am here to tell you the steps and some tips on how to run a successful ad campaign.
Steps for Creating an Ad on Facebook
According to HubSpot these are the simple 8 steps on how to run a Facebook Ad:
1. Create an Account with Facebook Ads Manager
You will first have to create an account with Facebook Ads Manager, but this also means you should have a Facebook Business page. This is necessary before creating an Ad, but should not be an issue if you have a Business and are using Facebook as a promoter/ landing page.
2. Create an Ad through Facebook Ad's Manager
After you create an account you will see a "Create" button, and that is where you will click to start the Ad!
3. Choose an Objective
Choosing an Objective and having a goal for your ad campaign is very important as it narrows in your target audience, and also narrows down the content you are to create. For example there is a big difference between creating brand awareness, and lead generation; so this is the "place" where you will determine that. Here are a list of the options you will receive:
Brand Awareness, Reach, Website Traffic, Engagement, App Installs, Video Views, Lead Generation, Messages, Conversions, Catalog Sales, and finally Store Traffic.
4. Choose your Audience
A target audience is one of Marketers best tool, and the most important aspect of Ads. You will have better results when you have a chosen target audience. This also means you need to have buyer persona's and a studied target audience for your business, and ad campaign. This is where demographics come into play, and you will have to narrow topics down such as location, gender, age, education, financial, work, interests, behaviors, and ethnic affinity. These are just a few of the many details of a target audience.
5. Set your Budget
When setting a budget for your ad's you will be able to choose from a daily budget, or a lifetime budget. You will also have to choose a specific scheduled date or multiple dates for when the ad will run and what time of the day. You will then also choose to have manual bidding, or optimal bidding. This will help determine how your ad is displayed and paid for. The last part of this step is choosing standard or accelerate delivery. Standard will allow it to run over time, and accelerated is exactly what it sounds like (quicker and more time effective).
6. Create your Ad
Here you will decide on the actual content. Will you choose a singular visual aid, or multiple? This is where you also choose your headline, description, and text. Before this step, you should have already brainstormed multiple headlines, descriptions, text, and visual aids (if you haven't done this, now is the time).
7. Monitor your Ad's Performance Metrics
There are many things to monitor, but a few that should always be looked at is the performance, engagement, videos, website, apps, events, clicks, and settings. This is an important step as it gives detailed statistics as to how well your ad is doing!
8. Reporting on Facebook Ad Performance
This is optional but always a good last step as Facebook will provide you with a custom report! You will find this under "Analyze and Report" in the main menu.
Now that you have gotten the steps on how to run Ads on Facebook, let's look at just a few tips that might help you along the way!
Tips on Running Facebook Ads
Facebook Ad Manager gives you all the tools to help you run a successful campaign, but it is up to you to provide them with good content. According to Neil Patel, this means making sure your ads are so compelling they click on them and overall offer the consumer something they want. Consumers are not interested in anything that they will not benefit from, and keeping this in mind will help you create intriguing content.
Keywords are important and can make your ad much more seen by users. For example when you search "master's degree" in Google the top 5 websites that pop up will be ads, and they pay to have that spot when those keywords are used. Doing research about which keywords will give you the best results is crucial and important to your ad campaign.
According to the Content Marketing Institute, there is such a thing called a "content bucket", and this means that instead of creating new ad campaigns all of the time, you just add to an existing one. This will also help retarget existing audiences of your content. Facebook Pixel is a great tool that can be downloaded to help re-target audiences that you know already are interested in what you have promoted in the past. As marketers, we know that it is much more cost-effective to keep and maintain existing consumers rather than get new ones. By doing this, you will be able to do a little bit of both!
I hope by now you are more confident with running Facebook Ads and Ad Campaigns! If you remember to follow these steps, and tips I am sure yours will be successful!
