Today, over 4 billion people are active on social media. Creating and posting relevant content and keeping consumers engaged is the biggest challenge for social media marketers.

When done correctly, using social media as a marketing tool can bring in leads, raise brand awareness, and even open you up to more conversion opportunities. We boil it down to basics for you, so you can make the most of your social media sites.

Setting Yourself Apart

It's important to take social media seriously. It extends beyond your current customers. You want to make sure you are putting your best foot forward because your next customer is around the corner!

Make sure your skill set is well honed, including an understanding of marketing fundamentals, creative thinking, writing, graphic design, public speaking, technology, customer service, and data analysis.

What value are you providing to your followers? Make sure you have an understanding of who you are targeting, and then analyze why your information is most valuable.

Make sure your goals are defined and stay on top of trends and the latest from your competition.

FINALLY. FINALLY. FINALLY. Utilize tools to help your ship sale smoothly. My favorite is Sprout Social, which gives you excellent abilities to publish, schedule, draft and que posts, monitor specific profiles and keywords, engage with reviews, and so many more which can be found below!

It's ease of use makes it a fantastic platform for consideration when

looking to better your content and help your business stand out amongst competitors.

My final piece of advice is to let your personality show. There's more to social media than selling. Connections are what really sell, and letting your followers see who you are makes your content and products that much more meaningful.

While it is important to focus on you customers and followers, make sure they know you are human too, that you're more than just a cog on a machine!

Reminding your consumers you're not a cog on the machine builds that connection, making it easier to sell your products. Be sure to create your connections beyond the product itself, showing that you care beyond the sale.

In a world of technology, differentiating yourself from your competitors is growing more and more difficult. Don't make it hard on yourself! Applying just a few of the above techniques will help you reap the benefits.

Go forth and post!
