What is CAP University?

CAP University is TikTok's newest educational tool created so users can learn how to stay relevant by continually rediscovering their creativity. As we move forward in the world of marketing and learn more we realize that marketing is always changing and we should be too. TikTok recognizes the immense marketing power that it holds within its platform and they want to partner with creators, users, and brands so we can all have the best understanding of what works best for the platform.

Okay, I get that. But what exactly is CAP University? CAP stands for Creative Agency Partnerships. You can actually sign up for classes and learn about using the platform for all your marketing needs. Not only are courses being offered but you will also be able to join virtual office hours with the CAP Team where you can ask questions.

Here's more from TikTok themselves:

“CAP University is a custom learning program that allows enrollees to join the courses they want, customize their learning curriculum based on the agency's unique areas of growth, and even attend live office hours sessions with TikTok's CAP team to further their knowledge and gain an in-depth understanding of the creative possibilities on and off the platform.”

Courses Offered at the School of TikTok

  1. TikTok 101

  2. TikTok: From Briefing to Pitching

  3. Concepting and Creating for TikTok

  4. Trends and Music Licensing

  5. Collaborating with creators

These initial elements include everything from using statistics and data to your advantage to working with creators on the platform. TikTok will continue to add courses as time goes on. Want to join? Sign up here!

Why this approach?

Why is it so important for TikTok to be so involved? Well, have you heard of Vine? They blew up just like TikTok did. The mistake they made was not valuing their creators enough or paying them a competitive amount compared to other platforms. So they left, and with them the cash flow. TikTok realizes it's important to make sure creators continue to post so they are looking for more ways to keep creators happy and provide them with all the best tools to make the most of the platform.

TikTok does have a wide range of avenues for monetization as well as the attention of many brands. Now, like many other platforms it just needs to create a link to fund its key contributors, and branded content deals. The new educational program can be a great way to enhance your TikTok knowledge, with direct input from the platform’s own creative team.
