Developing a social media strategy and platform is important, however, having constant posts and a set schedule as to when these posts will be posted is even more critical when it comes to having a successful social media page and marketing strategy.
What are Social Media Calendars?
The purpose of a social media calendar allows you to create a framework or template of things that your audience is interested in and promotes your business. This calendar allows you to plan out all of your social media posts for a certain amount of time. This can either be weekly or monthly. You will then upload any content to this template and the calendar will upload your posts for the designated scheduled time and day. In a post by Sandra Clayton from the Social Media Examiner she states a list of 6 things that allow you to make the best out of social media calendars, some of them being that this would allow you to space out your posts and make sure you are not duplicating the same type of content when you post. She also provides a great list of templates or programs that help make this process easier.
How can they be used to increase engagement?
Understanding engagement and how it affects your platform would be the first key component. Once you have a solid understanding of this you can start implementing certain things to improve engagement on your platform. Social Media Calendars can increase engagement by lowering the time you put in on a daily basis to create and curate content and use that time to engage with your comments and followers in more ways than one. This allows you to have a time where you frame your calendar into having great posts rather than creating social media posts in a hurry or on the spot. In a blog post by Lindsey Kolowich from Hubspot she explains how having a stable and set schedule can help so your followers know when you will be posting and they are able to engage with your content as soon as it is posted.

They also did a great job of including a list of templates with direct links to you are able to find a calendar that adjusts well to your type of content.
If there is a time to start a calendar it would be now since more and more information as well as research is coming out about how beneficial this resource can be, as always, feel free to stay up to date on other social media tips and tricks here on our website!
