Careers in Social Media
Just a short time ago, it would be crazy to think that there would be full careers shaped around social media. It is no secret that social media is a weapon when it comes to marketing. Here are a few reasons why you should consider a career in social media marketing. Socialmediacollege.com lists a few of the pros as follows, allow for remote work, are fast-paced and excellent for professionals who can multitask and it also involves dynamic work so the job never gets boring. I think these are just a few of the pros, but also the growth is incredible. Your growth is based on how much you are willing to work. This industry is an industry where you very much get out what you put in.
Don't Be Afraid to Ask Questions
There can be many different challenges associated with entering the workplace after college, or during college. I have always wanted to obtain as much information as I can so that way I can be ready when I get the opportunity. Jeff Slater, from www.themarketingsage.com, has a few great thoughts and advice just for young marketers entering the field. He says, "For me, I love to learn something new by asking questions, reading fresh perspectives, and observing a remarkably intelligent approach to solving a problem". I think this is a huge piece of advice because sometimes people feel as if asking a question makes them seem lesser, or less smart than others when in reality, you're trying to reach your maximum potential!
Don't Think Your Classroom Experience is Similar to an Actual Job
Another problem students have when graduating and entering the marketing field is that they either consciously or subconsciously think that the classroom experience they had in college will mirror the real-world experience. Well, unfortunately, according to Anum Hussein's post in blog.hubspot.com/marketing, it won't be the same. He says, "you won't actually learn to make important decisions in tight time frames until you're managing real dollars". Firstly, school just won't teach you how to manage the multiple different real-world scenarios you may face, so don't be afraid to learn from mistakes, and don't think school and the real world are the same because they are not.
