Are you struggling to create content that your audience interacts with? If so, you are not alone. A lack of social media audience interaction is a common occurrence for social media marketers. These tips just may help you increase your audience interaction!

Interactive Videos

Using interactive videos is a great way to encourage your audience to interact with your content. There are many formats you can use to create interactive videos including using CTAs to encourage subscriber sign-ups, on-screen polls, or even 360-degree videos. (Chi, 2022)

Seek Audience Input for Story Content

Stories are becoming increasingly popular on many social media platforms. It is important that your story content is relevant to your audience, and a great way to create such content is to ask your audience for their input. Asking for their input will encourage immediate engagement, and if you take their advice, will bring continued engagement. There are a variety of ways to gain input including using stickers in your stories, suggesting they reply with their thoughts, and keeping questions generalized for easy answering. (Karasiewics, 2019)

Keep Content Relevant to Your Niche

When you follow an account on social media, it's typically within your niche, right? If that account were to start posting content that is no longer relevant to that niche, you'd likely quit interacting. This is the same for the content you post. Keeping content relevant to your particular niche keeps your audience interested and more likely to engage in your content. If you post too much content that doesn't fit your niche, it may cause followers to disengage and find new content to engage with. (Hutchinson, 2022)

Be Original

Being original is another great way to gain audience interaction. People are constantly seeking to find content that is new and original. The same content over and over can cause your audience to be bored, especially if they've seen it on multiple other accounts. Keep your audience engaged with relevant, original content. This could include your favorite unique recipes (if you are a foodie), or your personal favorite vacation spots (if you are a travel content creator). Don't forget to authentically share what you love about the content you post! (Hutchinson, 2022)

Create a Mix of Evergreen & Trending Content

Evergreen content is great for increasing SEO and drawing in new audiences. Trending content will help keep these audiences coming back, and will likely increase their engagement. Content containing a "how-to" tutorial is an excellent example of an evergreen post. There is no shortage of people seeking content that helps them learn new things! (Hutchinson, 2022)

Content that Contains Interactive Storytelling Elements

Using interactive storytelling elements in your content is a great way to keep the audience engaged. These elements can range from infographics to gifs to charts, all of which break up text reduce the risk of readers getting fatigued. (Chi, 2022)
