Whether you're starting your first blog about the great adventures you can have in France or if you're writing your first blog about why your brand rivals all others, some blogging tips apply to all styles of blogging. These 5 tips will set you up for success both for personal blogging and corporate-minded blogging.

Having a great topic is only the first step in making your blog stand out amongst the sea of similar content present on your competition’s blogs. We will highlight a couple of ways to increase your blog’s viewership and how to make it stand out. In today’s saturated digital marketplace, ensuring that your blog post stands out from the crowd is more important than ever. With an abundance of content readily available, it can be difficult to create content that truly resonates with your target audience. However, there are several strategies that can be employed in order to ensure that your blog post is both engaging and memorable.

#1 Add Compelling Headlines and Promise Information

Before we can even get a reader to engage with our content, we have to draw them in! One of the primary ways to make your blog post stand out is by using compelling headlines. A well-crafted headline should be both creative and attention-grabbing, encouraging readers to click through and read your post. In addition, it should clearly and concisely convey what the post is about, while still leaving room for curiosity and intrigue. Titles like "Best French Food" are a dime a dozen and are extremely difficult to rank well on Google. Your chances of showing up on the front page are relatively weak. If we get a better title for example: "French Foods locals love" our SEO (which we will discuss in another tip) is far more competitive.

At the beginning of this post, my objective was to grab readers by promising 5 tips that would improve their blog posts. I did that by explaining that my content caters to not only business professionals but those who are beginners or working on personal blogs.

This is also a great time to include a reader’s promise. Ensuring that by the end of the blog post, the user will receive knowledge on a specific topic or question Consider using strong action verbs or posing a thought-provoking question to keep readers engaged from the outset. Be careful with using strong vocabulary. We don't want our readers to feel like they don't understand what they are reading and we don't want it to sound like reading a textbook.

#2 Design and Visuals

Another key component of a successful blog post is the use of visuals. Incorporating relevant, high-quality images, videos or infographics can help to break up text-heavy content and make it more visually appealing. This makes the post more engaging for readers and enhances its shareability on social media platforms. No one wants to read a terrible black-and-white essay without pictures and broken unoptimized word wrapping!

For posting in the business world, your theme and text styles will already be given to you so make sure that the liberties you take in your post still represent the blogging style that your company has set. If you are posting on a personal blog, find a style that fits! Limit your blog designs to a few you like and stick to the one you find the most success with. In the long run, this will help identify your content and set a consistent style for your content going forward.

It is important to consider the structure of your blog post. Break up long paragraphs with subheadings, bullet points, or numbered lists, making it easier for readers to scan and digest your content. Additionally, ensure that your post is well-organized and flows logically from one point to the next. Having well-separated and broken-up texts makes it more likely a reader can read the article much easier and help Google determine what to pull from your blog as a summary of its content.

#3 Write for People, Not Search Engines

That may sound simple, but it's not always easy to do. When you're writing as an expert in your field, you often want people who know less than you do about what they're reading. This can be hard when writing about topics that are new and exciting. It is important to remember readers are coming to your blog for fresh information and aren’t always subject matter experts.

Utilize successful bloggers whom you enjoy reading blogs from. Learn the techniques that are new and unique to make your content stand out but stay true to the content that you put out. At the end of the day and ironically our next tip, SEO is still very important and this is just a reminder that we are still writing for humans but the search engine robots need a good read as well!

Determine what stance you are taking in your blog post. Are you writing for professionals? Marketers? Customers? Employees? All of these require different approaches. A recipe blog for example can be written in a way that conveys personality and a story with light humor. While on the other hand, writing about technical business topics will tend to be less personal and more about infographics and data-proven points.

#4 SEO

Have you ever wondered why certain websites always pop up when you search for recommendations? Such as Yelp showing up when you want to find a good Indian restaurant near you. Whether we like it or not SEO is one of the most important aspects of blogging. If this is your first time hearing about it ill break it down for you. SEO is “search engine optimization”. In the easiest terms, it is how a search engine determines your content matches what someone types into a Google search bar. Having things like callbacks, lists, and good use of incorporating keywords will boost your SEO ranking. Essentially this is where you ARE writing for robots!

While you don’t need to get extremely technical about SEO, knowing how to write well for search engines is an important part of optimizing your content to get it in front of the greatest number of readers. Taking the time to continue learning even after becoming a professional blogger is important. We recommend utilizing free SEO courses through Semrush.com and HubSpot certifications. These courses will help take your blog on "Cutest Cats of the Year" from showing up at the bottom of a Google search engine to showing up anytime someone even types the words Cat and Cute! That's the power of great SEO!

SEO has essentially become a career within itself and professionals spend years optimizing keyword searches in Google to compete with others. As a personal blogger good SEO will still be extremely important if you wish to make money or gain notoriety from people reading and clicking on your blog. As a professional blogger SEO is about incorporating every possible way to make your content show up on the first page of a search.

#5 Promote on Your Social Media Channels

Finally, and second, only to SEO for technical optimization, be sure to promote your blog post through various channels. Use social media platforms, email newsletters, and other marketing tactics to increase reach and visibility. Engage with readers through comments and encourage them to share your post with their own followers. Every new engagement is a chance to improve your content, gain valuable insight into what is trending, work with other creators, and promote their work alongside yours!

As a smaller blogger learning to uniquely post your blogs on social media and make them stand out is critical. Use built-in metric tools provided by Facebook and Twitter to see how your posts do and how well they are getting shared. Having someone or a larger company see your content and promote it will help your content spread like a wildfire. Remember to have consistency and revisit your old post anytime you share new ones on social media. Companies or collaborators will often look at your past work before deciding if they want to promote or work with your content.

Have Fun

Blogging should be about creating content you love. Learning the technical parts to get it out there to your readers is maybe the "not so fun" part. Mastering the technical at the end of the day will allow you to focus on the actual content you want to put out.

Making your blog post stand out requires a combination of creativity, strategic thinking, and attention to detail. By incorporating compelling headlines, high-quality visuals, valuable insights, effective structure, and strategic promotion tactics, you can create blog content that resonates with your target audience, drives engagement, and ultimately achieves your desired goals.
