Why Build Brand Awareness on TikTok?

Video content is exploding across any and all platforms. It is of utmost importance to start converting nonpromotional and promotional marketing efforts into a video format. Editing and uploading a whole YouTube video can take hours and seem daunting for beginners.

TikTok is the perfect stepping stone into the video world. Now that we have covered why this platform is to be looked at for your business, you are halfway through our first tip on building brand awareness on TikTok.

1. Understand the Importance

As previously mentioned, video content is growing at an exponential rate. Paired with that growth comes the international and extremely diverse video app, TikTok. Social Media Examiner has stated TikTok's growth by comparing it to its competitors, Instagram and Facebook.

Accordingly, in 2019 the average amount of time users would spend on TikTok was 52 minutes per day. Instagram had 53 minutes and Facebook had 58 minutes on average. This was at TikTok's earlier stages of having 52 minutes per day. The number has grown to 82 minutes in the current year and is projected to continuously grow.

2. Research, Research, Research

If there was ever a successful plan, it came with having to do research. It is important to seek out the competition on TikTok and how they are tackling their audience. Comparing competitors to each other and noting how the others outshine and what is missing from either party's content.

When researching, let your mind brainstorm ideas that could have potential. Social Media Examiner shares the importance of gaining inspiration from research. From competitors in the same industry to other industries, there are a lot of ideas that could be made, by simply asking yourself questions.

Bakers demonstrate cookie decorating skills. What skills could your company demonstrate? Colleges and universities showcase their campus life. What atmosphere could your business showcase? Lawyers give advice and legal expertise. What advice could your company give?

3. Have Fun

It should never be a goal to go viral. I repeat it should never be the goal to go viral. Now, it is nice to have in the back of your mind that it would be fun to go viral but keep that more as a personal goal rather than a company goal.

TikTok should be utilized to show your company in a new light. It also provides so many new opportunities to test out new perspectives, whether it be jumping on a funny trend that could display your company in a humorous way. When this is done organically, viewers will notice.

4. Create and Connect!

Social Media Examiner gives a great step-by-step how-to tutorial for physically creating an account and post. From installing the app to how to edit and add music to your video post. More internally, this platform has the competitive advantage of letting companies humanize themselves, it is up to you to use that tool to your own advantage against competitors.

Not only should your video be connective but what happens after posting. Make sure to keep up with interactions afterward and invite discussion in the comments.

Remember, this is to be fun, creative, and most of all, connective. Happy TikToking!
