3 Tips to Use Social Media and Advance Your Next Event

As social media becomes ever more present in our daily lives, with constant life updates and daily scrolling through media, have you ever thought about using this to promote your business? Specifically, when you are hosting an event or training?


With multiple platforms, such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram creating features to enhance your events, these tips below will each feature a unique way these platforms can advance your event marketing presence.


LinkedIn: Providing A Guide For Your Event

If you haven't created a LinkedIn account yet, this is your sign to do so. Ever since the Covid-19 pandemic, events have evolved along with the use of social media. Thanks to the pandemic, streaming online has become one significant form. LinkedIn now has the option to host live streaming of an event.


Not only is LinkedIn allowing space for promotion and accessible live events to virtual meet-ups, but according to Social Media Today LinkedIn now features a downloadable 44-page Event Framework. This guide describes virtual meet-ups versus real life, all while focusing on maximizing your marketing approach. Marketing Events on Facebook

If you are a new business to Facebook or have not yet had overly successful events, here are some key tips from Sprout Social to improve the marketing of your events with a Facebook Event.

  • Use an Eye-Catching event photo. The first image viewers see will compel them to dig deeper into the event information. This can include your brand logo or colors.

  • Use keywords for tags. Tagging your event allows Facebook to recommend your event to those with similar interests

  • Allow the public to post in the event discussion. Being active and engaging those who comment, sparks conversation and drives the interest of those potentially attending

  • Schedule events in advance. The earlier your event is online circulating, the more chance you have of gaining new attendees.

Instagram Stories: A Gateway For Live Events

If you have ever hosted or participated in an event or training, you understand how labor-intensive things can get. With the focus so much on the outcome, businesses tend to forget to document the event. Look no further, according to Social Media Examiner, Instagram is a great way to boost your event marketing.


Instagram now has a highlight feature on your profile page. As a business, posting content that is engaging and enjoyable for viewers can help build up your customers. Posting Instagram stories such as the poll option, emoji slider, or quiz option allows for participation by your viewers. Capturing and posting footage of your event live showcases to viewers what they are missing out on. This content can build up excitement and show behind-the-scene images that make the viewer feel valuable. All of this potential content created can then be saved to your highlight feature for anyone to view.
