Do you ever worry about robots taking over your future career? Do you prefer to be your own boss? How about feeling like you are just not fit for your job? If you answered yes to any of those questions, then Social Media Marketing is the perfect career path for you!
1. Social Media is Here to Stay
Social Media has been around for quite some time now; and it is here to stay. With developing technologies there are many jobs and careers that are getting replaced or abandoned. Jobs that were once ran by humans are now replaced with technology or completely left behind. Social Media Marketing is not one of those jobs. In fact, Social Media Marketing is a newer field that people are tapping into more and more as time goes on and as the digital age grows. According to Braden Becker for HubSpot, 2021 LinkedIn revealed the top three in demand marketing positions: social media managers, digital marketing specialists, and digital account executives. Positions like these are on their up-hill climb, and will continue to flourish into 2022. HubSpot Blog research even says the "Content Marketing" position is the number one strategy marketing teams are hiring for the current year. On top of a content marketing position there are also many more roles that are looking to be filled starting from a Content Creator, to a SEO Specialist, and everything in-between. Moral of the story; Social Media Marketing is here to stay and we are just as excited about it as you are.
2. You Can Be Your Own Boss
Picture this. You are planning your day off, and you decide you want to run some errands, relax, and then go have dinner with your friends. Then you get a text from...yes I am about to say it...your boss. You read the text and it says "Hello! I need you to come pick up a shift today as we are short." *Sigh* You respond "Okay, I will be there." Now your entire day off is ruined and your schedule for the rest of the week is messed up. Well look no further, a career in Social Media Marketing can fix that for you!
Social Media Marketing can be a position in many settings, but one that appeals to most is from the comfort of your own home. With this convenience you also have the freedom of being your own boss. This dream position would be specifically called a "Freelance Social Media Manager". According to Hootsuite Blog there is a list of services that this position would typically provide: social media strategy, creating and managing content calendars, content creation, copywriting, scheduling and publishing posts, community management, and analytics and reporting. The beauty of providing all of these services is that you also get the freedom to price them. With the freedom of you being your own boss that also comes with the task of staying on top of the little things, like not overloading yourself, keeping communication with clients organized, etc. There are many available tools to help you keep all of those things organized as you navigate being a Freelance Social Media Manager. Have I convinced you yet? Lets rewind and picture this. You are sitting at home and this time you realized "Oh no! I forgot lunch with my Mom today!" That's it. That is the end of the story...because now there is nothing else to do other than leaving to go eat lunch with your mom because well, you can! This is the beauty of being your own boss and taking on Social Media Marketing as a freelancer.
3. Social Media Marketing is Fit for Left & Right Brain People
Have you ever sat in math class and thought "I am horrible with numbers, this is just not for me"? You are left-brained. Or have you ever sat in art class and thought the exact same thing? You are right-brained. Whether you are a number genius or a someone that pours creativity, social media marketing can be a fit for the both of you.
Social Media Marketing takes many tools to succeed, but one specifically is creating content. When you hear "creating content" you automatically think about intense creativity. While it does take some there is another systematic side of Social Media Marketing that left brained people would be so happy to hear. According to Dennis Shiao for Content Marketing Institute, humans see many content types day to day. Our brain although subconsciously likes to see consistency in content types, like a news article with a headline, date, and location. Or a product with a name, model number, and a description about the product. This is where the left- brainers thrive and succeed with consistency and automation in content. Complimentary to them, the right- brained people bring the creativity. Dennis Shiao for Content Marketing Institute talks about how content needs to give readers a more useful experience. This is exactly where the right-brained people come in. For example, take a website that has published many blog posts and some complimentary to one another. Giving the readers a useful experience would be linking another blog post into the new one, so they can refer to multiple. Creativity in social media marketing keeps people engaged by using a story, consistent colors, and also media such as infographics or videos. Both types of people contribute to Social Media Marketing, and compliment each other well while creating content. Well folks, you heard it here! No need to worry if you don't fit in the job you have now, or worry about fitting into a future job. Social Media Marketing is one for many! Left-brained people and right-brained people go hand in hand to conquer the Content Marketing world!
Do you feel relieved now? No more robots taking over your job, or not feeling fit for the one you have right now, and even worrying about a boss. Social Media Marketing is here to save you.
